As part of their Modern Foreign Languages study, all the children in Upper Key Stage 2 receive specialist instruction from our MFL teacher, Gwenola Wells. On Thursday 19th July the children will celebrate their learning over the past three terms with a day dedicated to all things French, including ‘Le Bake Off’ where children bring in French food they have made.

Naturellement, the recipe should be presented in French!

“The children have immersed themselves in the French language for three terms and their progress is amazing,” says Headteacher, Stuart Draper. “As part of their studies, they are not just conversing and writing in another language, they are also learning about the culture. As part of our British Values curriculum, we feel it is important that children are exposed to other cultures and identities. Having been born and trained as a teacher in France, Mrs Wells is able to not only teach them the language skills but also give direct insight into French culture and society. The children have learned historical facts, as well as how to find out where the nearest Post Office is!”
