Dear Parent/Carers
Today we received the sad news that one of our esteemed Governors and friend has passed away.
Angela ‘Ange’ Grandfield OBE was a force to be reckoned with. A fierce champion of children, especially those with special needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds, Ange was always willing to fight for their rights, no matter how many feathers might be ruffled in the progress. She was an active and vital part of our governing body and was always the first to challenge how well we were spending our pupil premium money – and to offer candid and useful advice where needed. As a new head, green and unsteady, Ange took me under her wing. If I ever had a problem, she would be my ‘go to’ friend. And it was always the same, “Slow down”, this is simpler than it looks. Do you want me to come round? Yes? Put the kettle on. ” She would turn up, roll up her sleeves and help me clean up the mess. I shall miss her.
We had much in common on a personal level too and it was good to share experiences of our times in education and how our personal circumstances had affected us.
I shall miss her candour, her smile, and her unwavering ability to unpick a problem and come up with a solution. But most of all, I shall miss her friendship.
Ange, Pat and their family are in our thoughts and prayers.
Yours in partnership
