Yoxall St Peter’s Primary School has received its Inspection Data Summary Report (the report that Ofsted look at before they visit a school) and it’s all good news.

“We’ve improved progress and attainment in all areas,” says Stuart Draper, headteacher, “And in many areas we are in the top 20% band for all primary schools in the country.”

According to the report, “Key stage 2 progress in reading (2.6) was significantly above national and in the highest 20% of all schools in 2019.” It goes on to say, “The three-year average reading attainment score (107.0) was in the highest 20%.” The report also notes the improvement in mathematics teaching and learning, stating “Mathematics progress has improved between 2018 and 2019.”

Attendance is also highlighted; Overall absence (2.7%) was in the lowest 20% of all schools in 2019 as well as in 2018 and 2017 and according to the report, “The rate of overall absence (2.7%) in 2018/19 was in the lowest 20% of schools with a similar level of deprivation.”

“We are delighted with the comments,” says Stuart Draper, “We’ve worked hard as a school to improve teaching and learning and our ISDR is proof that what we are doing is working. This year, we’ve had a record number of ‘in year’ applications for children joining the school; our reputation is spreading and we are proud of our achievements.”

“It’s pleasing to see the school’s positive progress being reflected in these statistics.  It echoes the excellent work the headteacher and his staff have delivered over the past couple of years ,” says Angus Stewart, Chair of Governors, “the hard work continues and we are seeking to consolidate this position with further improvement this academic year.”
